The firm was established initially by and in the name Robert W. Mitchell in January 1975. Robert Mitchell came to Fiji from Australia to work with another law firm in Suva and in 1975 formed his own firm.

Franz Georg Keil also came from Australia to work with another law firm in Suva before joining Robert Mitchell in 1975. The partnership Mitchell, Keil & Associates was formed in October 1977.

Robert Mitchell returned to Australia some time ago and Franz Georg Keil retired from
practice in 2012.

Walton Morgan joined the firm in 1980 after obtaining legal qualification in New Zealand and serving for a short time with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Suva. He was made a partner in January 1985. Walton acted as a consultant to the firm until May 2023 when he was appointed as a Justice of Appeal to Fiji Court of Appeal.

Nilesh Prasad joined the firm in December 1999 after completing legal studies at the
University of the South Pacific and being admitted to practice law in Fiji. He was made a partner in 2008. Nilesh is presently the Principal of the firm.

Shiristi Kumar commenced working for the firm as a solicitor from October 2021 after
having worked with another Suva law firm once she was admitted to the High Court of Fiji.

Preeti Verma joined the firm as a solicitor in December 2021. She previously worked as a Marketing Analyst for a national FMCG and has an undergraduate degree in business marketing.

The firm now operates under the name Mitchell Keil.

The firm has extensive experience in commercial, conveyancing, intellectual property,
estates, employment, admiralty and maritime law. We have a large and varied client
base both private and corporate and represent a significant number of offshore clients.
